Africa Alive! has held an annual Bioblitz in the park since 2014. Wildlife experts from all over the county join our staff and guests to help record the wonderful array of British wildlife that calls the park home. The total number of different species recorded at these events now totals 865; including over 380 species of insect, over 75 species of fungi, 14 species of mammal, over 160 species of plants and over 55 species of birds. This information is submitted to the Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service to assist national records, but also helps us to protect native species within the park.
We would like to thank all of the local wildlife organisations that have supported our events; including the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, Suffolk Naturalists’ Society and their county recorders, Norfolk & Norwich Naturalists’ Society and their county recorders, the Lowestoft Field Club and the RSPB.
We would also like to thank all of our guests who took part in our bioblitz events. Our next bioblitz will take place in July 2019 – keep an eye out on our events calendar for more details.
