WELCOME TO HOG SNORTS…

“Hog Snorts” is an interactive habitat that houses some very unusual, and rather spectacular looking, red river hogs as well as a number of sitatunga antelope.

Red river hogs and Sitatunga

The male called Kinshasa was born at Chester Zoo and arrived at Africa Alive in February 2019. He can be easily recognised by the bony growths either side of his muzzle, which are characteristic of a male. The two females, Rebecca and Rosie, are sisters and arrived from Liseux Zoo in France in March 2019. In May 2020 we had our first litter of hogs – Peanut and Humphrey are now fast catching up with their parents in size! Don’t miss the red river hog feeding talk, which takes place daily at 2pm, to find out more about these unique animals.
