Research at Africa Alive!
Africa Alive! has a very active research programme. Different areas of research include: animal behaviour, animal nutrition, environmental enrichment, enclosure use, physiology and veterinary science.
Research is a vital tool in increasing our understanding of animals within the park and in the wild and we encourage projects within our collection.
Before you embark on a research project there are many areas to consider when preparing to study animals, such as sample size and methodology. To help you, the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) can provide extensive research guidelines that will answer many of your questions and queries. For more information please look at the research section of the BIAZA website: Biaza Website.
All research done at the park must follow our research procedures and be approved by our Research Coordinator and Animal Manager. To download a copy of our research procedure or research application form please see below.
