Hands on Learning!
2018 – 2019 Key Stage 3 Programme
All sessions encourage your group to explore, observe and discover animals in an hands-on setting designed to bring the classroom to life!
Each session is curriculum-linked to a particular learning goal, but all sessions touch on other topics including the variety of life, classification, conservation and healthy living.
Food For Thought!
Discover how every organism has a part to play in their ecosystem in this interactive session. Bring the whole class together as we build our own food chains and food web, with a chance to get hands-on with some of the animals from our food web!
Insects, Reptiles and Mr Linnaeus!
Find out how and why animals are classified into certain groups, with the help of the godfather of classification; Carolus Linnaeus.
Get hands-on with a range of animals and ‘biofacts’!
Observe, Preserve & Conserve
Find out all about the importance of life on Earth and how we can conserve it. Discover ‘What NOT to buy on holiday’ and also meet an endangered species in need of our help!
Why do Lions Have Manes?
This session looks at reproduction, hormones, changing bodies and different relationships, all told through the life cycle of a lion. The session also involves animal handling (…of a minibeast not a lion!)
We encourage photographs to be taken as they make a wonderful addition to a child’s learning journey. Please ensure all relevant consent has been obtained.
- Sessions are charged at £20 and include an education pack with worksheets.
- Sessions last approx 45 minutes and can seat up to 30 people.
