Superb Starling
Lamprotornis superbus
Starlings are passerines (perching birds). There are over 100 species found mainly in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Measurements
Size: around 18cm
Weight: 40 - 70g

Habitat
These beautiful starlings are found throughout northeast Africa in woodland, thorny bush and acacia country. They are also found in towns and even cities!

Diet
In the wild the superb starling live in groups and feed together. Their diet consists of berries, seeds, insects and worms. Here in the park they have a mixed diet of insects, meat, fruit, dried shellfish, eggs and even cheese!

Breeding
Nests are built in thorny bushes or low trees with both parents helping out. 4 green/blue eggs are laid which hatch after about 2 weeks.

Conservation
Populations of superb starling are considered stable and are not believed to be endangered.
