Ankole Cattle

Ankole are a breed of domestic cattle from Africa, recognisable by their huge horns, which can grow up to 1.8 metres long!

Weight: 560 - 650kg

Habitat
Ankole cattle were domesticated in East Africa, but are now kept all over the world. They are named after a region in Uganda.

Diet
All cattle are ruminant, which means that their stomachs have four chambers, allowing them to graze and swallow food quickly, then regurgitate it and chew thoroughly.

Breeding
The calves are born after a pregnancy of 9-11 months at the end of the dry season, when the best food conditions prevail.
