Saola Sunday!

28th April 2013
On Sunday the 28th of April it is “Saola Sunday” at Africa Alive!

…but what is a saola!

The saola (pronounced sow-LA) is a hoofed mammal, resembling an antelope, but more closely related to cattle. It is found in Southeast Asia and until 1992 was unknown to science!

Now, only 20 years after its discovery it is on the verge of extinction!

Join us for a day of Southeast Asian fun to help ‘Save the Saola’ including animal handling, fun crafts such as badge making, a brand new ‘Spot the Saola’ trail and a chance to find out all about the campaign at our Saola Station. Help us fill the zoo with saola – with our brand new saola face paint design or make your own saola-style hat to wear with pride!
